What Are You Tasting: 2012 Jean-Francois Quenard, Chignin, Savoie

Jean-Francois Quenard, Chignin, Savoie, France wine

Wine

2012 Jean-Francois Quenard, Chignin, Savoie, France.

Place

I want to be in Savoie, of course! Specifically where this wine is from, the lush village Chignin in alpine France. Alas I don't own a transporter, (Yup I went there #trekkie.) so I settled with the sunny deck at Enoteca La Storia wine bar in downtown Los Gatos. A close second.

Pairing

The wine is 100% Jacquere which can at times have a bit of weight to it. So believe it or not, it went pretty darn well with my tuna sandwich. Pepperoncini, capers, pickles and mixed greens on a baguette. Tasty.

Takeaway

The region of Savoie is severely underrated, in my eyes. You can find great values, mostly crisp clean whites with nice texture and minerality. Moral of the story? We should all drink more Savoie. Your homework? Go drink some!
