The Mandate

Our client hosts an annual summer party in New York the same week that the new class of Associates begin working at the firm. Since there is a mix of new employees with a range of junior and senior professionals, the goal was to create an inviting environment with interactive elements to spark conversation. As this is an annual event, another key objective was to make the experience unique and bring a fresh identity to the event.

The Solution

We booked a beautiful, centrally located venue with indoor and outdoor space for guests to both enjoy the summer evening and escape the heat.  White and green florals with beach accents and soft candlelit lanterns transformed the atmosphere into a Hamptons garden party. The atmosphere we designed was elegant, yet approachable.  Domaine Somm curated a wide variety of wines at each of the two bars as well as three interactive stations including a Build Your Own Bubbly Cocktail Bar, Blend by the Glass interaction, and a Blind Tasting for a chance to win some great prizes.  Servers passed a sampling of summer bites and staffed an interactive Brazilian grill station.  In addition, oyster shuckers roamed the party with “mobile oyster” belts, ready to make oysters to order.  A corn hole lawn game was set for guests to encourage some friendly competition and engagement amongst colleagues.

The Outcome

The event was a success!  The interactive stations provided unique opportunities for engagement between colleagues in a fun environment. The corn-hole lawn game enhanced the garden party atmosphere and brought a comfortable dynamic between junior and senior level colleagues. Guests brought out their competitive streak with the blind tasting which added a whole different level of engagement. The emphasis on passed hors d'oeuvres and small plates also facilitated mobility amongst guests and created a nice flow for the indoor and outdoor spaces.
