On this day two years ago, I founded Domaine Somm with a mission to help bring people together and create opportunities for engagement in a meaningful way.
As some of you know, the decision to launch on this date stems from my personal experience living in lower Manhattan when the tragic events of 9/11/2001 occurred. It was devastating, but what struck me and continues to amaze me is the powerful sense of humanity and community building that ensued. Ethnicity, age, religion, sexual orientation, political ideology, education, or profession…none of it mattered. The only thing in question was how one could help. Strangers worked together to improve the lives of others. Unique, shared experiences undoubtedly help to break down barriers, build relationships, and form communities.
Thank you for being a part of our community. Our mission at Domaine Somm continues to be rooted in community building and bringing people together through great wine experiences. As we remember our roots and the tragedy of 9/11 today, we also look forward to a vibrant future. We have many exciting projects in the works and will share more details with you soon.
Today has become the largest annual day of charitable engagement in the U.S. thanks to 911day.org. We hope you'll join us as we raise a glass to two years and take the opportunity to give back to all of our communities.
