We had been hosting a series of educational workshops (Sommelier Series) for marketing, event, and hospitality professionals where we provided tips on engaging and dynamic ways to integrate wine into events. The feedback was great and our guests really valued the content, but wanted a larger networking component to be able to connect and engage with peers in the industry. Our goal was to create an educational and fun event that provided our guests with ideas on how to enhance their events with unique beverage experiences, as well as demonstrate our expertise.
Since the guests are well versed in events and venues, we selected a location that was off the beaten path and provided a great outdoor setting for a summer party. The roof deck offered great views of downtown Manhattan and lush landscaping which enhanced the seasonal focus of the event. To provide guests with ideas on creative ways to engage guests at events, we showcased a few interactive experiences including a Build Your Own Bubbly Cocktail Bar, Wine Blending Bar, and an Exploring Terroir station. These activities were situated in different areas of the rooftop to encourage guests to move around the space.
It was a success! Our guests seemed to love the creative and interactive nature of the various elements we showcased. We caught several guests sharing recipe ideas for bubbly cocktails and ratios of wine varieties for the wine blending station. Our terroir station featured a blind tasting of wines made with the same variety, Chardonnay, to provide some education around how a grape can have such varied expression depending on where it's grown and how it's made.
