2012 Cave Geisse Blanc de Blancs
WINE: The Cave Geisse Nature is composed of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. Very fresh, with a hint of yeast, toast, honey, and dried fruits like apricots and almonds. Full-bodied and balanced.
PLACE: Mario Geisse brought his family to Brazil 40 years ago to launch Chandon’s Brazilian operation. Realizing that the land could yield better wines than what was achieved through mass production methods, he left Chandon to focus on ultra-high quality wines. His diligent focus on understanding the terroir through many micro-terroir experiments turned him into a pioneer for the Brazilian wine industry.
PAIRING: This is an elegant sparkler with a hint of dried apricots, honey, and little toastiness. It serves well as an aperitif as well as with sushi or creamy pastas.
TAKEAWAY: When was the last time you had a wine from Brazil?! This is the perfect wine to show off at your next dinner party. If Brazilian wine is the new trend in wine, then Cave Geisse is definitely a flagship.
