Notable SF Event Venues

We're constantly scouting interesting venues to recommend for client events.  Recently, we did a full 2-day tour of venues in San Francisco for an east-coast based client seeking the perfect space for a reception of 100+ guests.  Several venues stood out to us as great locations for wine-centric events. Below is our recap.

This space was impressive to us for it's sleek, modern feel, and rooftop patio. The space offers a full kitchen, several separate meeting spaces, a large projector, and they allow outside wine without corkage, which is a big plus!

Dirty Habit is a restaurant located on the top floor at Hotel Zelos. It offers an industrial-rustic feel and a great wine list!  They separate the space very well using their rustic barn doors, which allows for several different rooms to be utilized for wine tastings and food stations. This is also perfect for a smaller group or for private dinners.

Novela is a quirky cocktail bar located in SoMa. Their theme is literary and all their drinks are named after characters from classic novels.  Its vibrant colors and fun atmosphere make it a unique spot for celebrations.  They also have their own house-made punch on tap!  This could be a fun element to complement our wine experiences.

Adventures in Team Building

Most of our clients are companies who are always looking for unique ways to increase engagement at their events, whether it's for internal teams or for their clients and partners. For this reason and because we love the creative process, we are constantly thinking of new activations, tasting a plethora of wine, and testing pairings.  We thrive on collaborating with our clients to create a memorable experience that stimulates communication and brings delight through wine.

Recently, San Francisco's destination marketing organization, San Francisco Travel, released their annual Meeting Planner's Guide and we're thrilled to be featured as a team building resource for groups meeting in San Francisco and beyond.  For your next company meeting, consider carving out some bonding time to keep your employees and partners engaged.  In our experience, wine is usually welcomed, especially after sitting through back to back presentations!

Our team of sommeliers and event professionals are based in California, New York, and Texas, but can bring these experiences to any location.  To learn more about how we can elevate engagement at your next event, contact HELLO@DOMAINESOMM.COM

Event Recap: Football Themed Event for an Investment Firm

December 2nd, 2015

CLIENT TYPE:  Investment Firm

LOCATION:  San Francisco

Our client engaged us to create an elevated and unique food + beverage experience for their pre-Super Bowl themed event at their office. Their office is stunning with clean lines, beautiful bay views, and upscale furnishings. The goal was to create an atmosphere that would encourage all team members to interact and enjoy the festivities surrounding the football season in an elegant fashion.

We introduced our signature Build Your Own Wine Cocktail Experience and incorporated non-wine ingredients such as beer, shrubs from INNA, and Lillet Blanc to add diversity to the flavor profiles and to accommodate guests whose first choice isn't wine. To tie in the Super Bowl theme, we featured the following cocktails.

beer cocktail

The Kickoff
2 dashes of Chocolate bitters, 2 oz of Quince Shrub, 2 oz Sparkling wine, 2 oz Guinness, Mint garnish

wine cocktail recipe

The Golden Gate
2 dashes of Cardamom bitters, 2 oz of Lillet Blanc, 4 oz Onward Wines Pet-Nat, Pomegranate garnish

The Touchdown
2 dashes of Grapefruit bitters, 2 oz of Meyer Lemon Shrub, 2 oz of Pale Ale, 2 oz of Ginger beer, Rosemary sprig

wine cocktail

The Red Zone
2 dashes of Lavender bitters, 2 oz of Apple Shrub, 4 oz of Red wine, Cinnamon stick

For the culinary experience, we engaged one of our preferred vendors, Estate Events by Meadowood, to create high-end, football-themed appetizers to be served. The menu included Foie Gras "hot dogs", Kobe beef sliders, Heirloom Root Vegetable Chili, Spiced Duck Wings, and Truffled Fries.

The unique and thematic food + beverage experience provided a bit of whimsy which created conversation starters and added to the engagement factor at the event. The team members shared different cocktail creation ideas and were excited to take their learnings home. The food and service were extremely well received. It was a successful event that left the guests feeling extra special.
