2012 Obsidian Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon

WINE:  Tricycle Wine Partners was founded in 2003 by Alex Beloz (current winemaker), Michael Terrien (founding winemaker) and Arpad Molnar. They make two Bordeaux style blends today from two amazing vineyard site: The Poseiden Vineyard and The Obsidian Ridge. The Obsidian Ridge is 97% Cabernet with a touch of Petit Verdot.

PLACE: Obsidian Ridge Vineyard is planted 2,640ft atop the Mayacamas range north of the Napa Valley. It is in one of the newest American Viticultural Areas, called Red Hills Lake County for the distinctive volcanic soils that define this remarkable mountain appellation.

PAIRING: Notes of red plum, black cherries and a touch of vanilla on the nose are followed by a full palate of juicy ripe cherries, plums and rounded tannins. This wine has a soft oak influence. It can certainly age however it is very approachable now.

TAKEAWAY: Elevation is key to making great Cabernet, so this is a great value wine from Napa Valley.
