2009 Easton Wines Zinfandel "Obscura" Late Harvest

22.00

WINE: Easton is the project of winemaker Bill Easton whose focus has been on the Rhone varietals such as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre Viognier, Rousanne and Marsanne, but he also makes some Zinfandel, and at times this delicious late harvest Zin named Obscura, which means 'dark' in Latin. Bill does an excellent job of offering us Old World style wines with a rustic California edge. The grapes used to make this wine were left out to ripen for 3 weeks after harvesting the Old Vine Zinfandel that goes into the dry wine to gain the necessary sugars.

PLACE: The grapes are from the Rinaldi Vineyard located in Fiddletown, California.

PAIRING: This is a rare wine that can only be made about once every decade. Sweet like a Port, this wonderful wine can be sipped alone, paired with decadent chocolate desserts or matched with strong cheeses and dried fruits.

TAKEAWAY: Everyone brings red or white wine to a party, but what about dessert?! This sweet & savory dessert wine will surprise even those who don't usually partake in sweets. Bring it with some dark chocolate to really show off!
