80.00

WINE: The Leflaive family has been established in Pugligny Montrachet since 1717. In 1984 Olivier Leflaive began his own journey (Olivier Leflaive Frères) with the help of his uncle Vincent and his brother Patrick. He soon took the ranks amongst the best Burgundy producers. Olivier Leflaive Freres today is still known as a small négociant that focuses on high quality white wines from the famous Puligny–Montrachet and Meursault regions.

PLACE: In France the region of Burgundy, the sub regions of Cote de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet and to narrow it down further the Champ Gain Premier Cru vineyard. The “Champ Gain” vineyard’s represents “the fields reclaimed from the forest”. Les Champs Gains is high altitude and the vines are planted on shallow, rocky soil rich in clay and limestone. This is what gives this wine its minerality.

PAIRING: With Puligny-Montrachets you can often find a more delicate style of Chardonnay in the Cote de Beaune. This classic example shows notes of citrus, white peaches and a touch of almond. Its texture would pair perfectly with Penne alla Zucca.

TAKEWAY: Leflaive winery holds 13 acres of Grand Cru vineyards, and its legacy continues to grow. We consider the wines from this Domaine a staple to any cellar or dinner party.
